... Mat. 16:18 and the word church" is a hard word to "de-program" from. Jesus never taught
it.
He taught "ekklesia", i.e. a gathering and congregation. To assemble.
He taught "ekklesia", i.e. a gathering and congregation. To assemble.
By design
and deception, we are conditioned to think of congregations in a church
building as a "church".
But Jesus
had taught them in Matthew 18:20 For where two or three have gathered
together in My name, I am there in their midst.”
If that is
true, and it is, then we might begin to rethink why a building, a mortgage, a
501c3, a staff, departments, Denomination organization, choir, fund-raising,
remodels, and do a LOT of the typical trappings that we ourselves supported,
did, and were part of for 24 years. Until the Lord called us out.
Please
re-read the verse in Matthew until you grasp the simplicity.
Is there
then any wonder that much of Jesus' own ministry took place in homes, outdoors,
or in public?
-without all
the "stuff" we *think* is desirable for a church service?
-in fact,
study ACTS and see if YOU can find a "church service".
PLEASE, remember
the disciples were Spirit-filled, preached the gospel, established
congregations, saw thousands converted, prayed together, gathered together,
baptized people, gave and shared of their substance, ordained elders, resolved
doctrine matters, re-visited congregations they had birthed..
and consider
what man has done in the name of "church" today..
The FACTS
ARE IN ACTS. There is a pattern to the
"house"
In PART 3 (very short) you will find out more interesting things.
