From the
beginning the devil attempted to kill or discredit Jesus, another twist is the
idea that Joseph impregnated Mary and thus Joseph is the true paternal father
of Jesus Christ. After he was risen from the dead, the Jews called him a
deceiver, that the Isaiah 7:14 prophecy of a virgin conceiving was really only
a young woman, not a virgin when Jesus was born.
A young woman getting pregnant
by her espoused husband would not be much of a “sign”, but a virgin conceiving
and having a child, that would be an amazing sign.
AFTER they knew who Jesus is,
they preached the same revelation Peter preached.
"you are the
Christ, the SON OF THE LIVING GOD".
John 3:18
He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that does not believe is
condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

about believing Jesus is the son of Joseph "as was *supposed",
and not once was that preached by anyone, including Philip after he knew who
Jesus is... because Phillip supposed Jesus was the bio-son of Joseph when he first met
the Christ.
Recently to my utter
astonishment, I have seen good people advocate that Joseph fathered Jesus
Christ, thus denying Jesus being born of a virgin, i.e. a maiden who said she
had “not known a man”, a Hebrewism for being a virgin.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way: When His mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was
found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Mary’s lineage are that she was a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Luke 3:34); of the tribe of Judah (v 33). She was also a descendant of Boaz (v32) and David (v31). Significantly, Luke traces Mary’s lineage all the way back to Adam (v38).
There is not only the witness
of the word virgin, which some debate,
but the phrase "knew
her not" and "knew her" and "I
know not a man" bear witness to Mary's virginity, Christ's
conception, and Joseph and her coming together AFTER Jesus was born.
