ACTS 13 Who was JESUS in Antioch?

 

Jesus who? to the strangers in ANTIOCH

A  study of what was preached, and not the contrast with them not using the words "trinity", "Jesus is GOD", "triune", "God the Son", and other churchisms.

In the city of Antioch, The apostles Paul and Barnabbas went to a Jewish synagogue to preach the GOOD NEWS and tell them about Jesus.

Acts 13 Let's look at what they said about Jesus...
23 Of David's seed has GOD, according to His promise, raised to Israel a Savior, Jesus.

𝑳𝒆𝒕'𝒔 now 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒊𝒇 𝑷𝒂𝒖𝒍 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎"𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝑮𝒐𝒅", 𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒖𝒍 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒆𝒘𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝑶𝑹𝑫 of the scriptures 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒂𝒃𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒉

26 “Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙤𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙂𝙊𝘿, to you is ***the word of this salvation*** sent.

27 For those who dwell in Jerusalem and their rulers, (i.e. the Jews)
𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐇𝐈𝐌 𝙣𝙤𝙩.. ***nor yet understood the voices of the Prophets

𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙖𝙗𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙖𝙮 and ….have fulfilled them in condemning Him.

(I would point out those men read and heard their Bible scriptures just like a lot of us Christians have done also!!!

28 And though they found no cause for death in Him, yet they asked Pilate that He should be slain.

29 And when they had fulfilled all THAT WAS WRITTEN of Him, <nothing written Christ divine-God)
they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a sepulcher.

30 But God raised Him from the dead;
(wait, If Jesus is God, then GOD raised God from the dead? )

31 and He was seen many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people.

(remember 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘀.
THIS is why ACTS is so important in identifying who Jesus Christ is. )

32 And we declare to you *GLAD TIDINGS of the promise* which was made to the fathers:
33 God HAS fulfilled the same to us their children, in that HE (God is a "HE" is not a plural)

has raised up Jesus again, as it is also written in the second Psalm:
‘Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee.’

34 And concerning that He (i.e. God) raised Him (i.e.  Jesus) up from the dead,
now no more to return to corruption, HE said thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’

35 Therefore HE said also in another Psalm: ‘Thou shalt not suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption.’

(𝒊.𝒆. 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒚 𝑶𝒏𝒆(𝒊.𝒆. 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕, 𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒃)

36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption.​
37 But  He whom ​God raised again saw no corruption.

38 BE IT KNOWN TO YOU (the reader) therefore, men and brethren, that ​through this Man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins;

​39 and by Him (the MAN) all that believe are justified from all, from which ye could not be justified by the Law of Moses. (by His stripes we were healed).
(vs 39 is for the sabbath-tithe-law advocates. telling us NONE of those justify you in the sight of God.

Now note this verse:
The Apostle Paul mentioned in 2 Corinthians 11:24,
“𝙛𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙅𝙚𝙬𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙮 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚.”

Next VERSE 40:

𝑵𝑶𝑻𝑬:! 40 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝒂 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑰𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒂 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒂𝒏.
𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 40 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏,
𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 40 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈.

40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken of in the Prophets:

And so the chapter concludes:
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold and said,

“It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you (to the Jews first!).

 But seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, ‘I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest bring salvation unto the ends of the earth.’”

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad

and glorified the Word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost.
