50 Reasons Christians are not bound to the Old Testament Laws of the Torah.
-rory moore
Are we are to keep, observe, and do the Law
of the Old Testament Commandments, ordinances, and statutes? Some people think so. What did the apostles think and write?
We will see there are many, many new
testament scriptures that should be our lens to read the old testament law. -And especially showing why Christ is the
better way.

away" :

... for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil
remains, it not being revealed to them that it is *done away in Christ*.

12. weak and beggarly elements of the law are
bondage:

God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, where ye desire
to be in bondage over again?

bondage of the law:
Galatians 4:24
Which things contain an allegory: for these women are two covenants; one from
mount Sinai, bearing children unto bondage, which is Hagar.

freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled
again in a yoke of bondage.

ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit.

Romans 9:31 But
Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.
22. love fulfills the law:
Romans 13:10 Love
works no ill to his neighbor: love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith
of Jesus
24. Holy Spirit not received by works of the
law, but by faith:
Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the
works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
25. Living under works of the law brings
curse:
Galatians 3:10 For
as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written,
Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the
book of the law to do them.
26. No man justified by the law:
Gal. 3:11 But that no
man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for,
The just shall live by faith.
27. Law makes grace void:
Galatians 2:21 I do
not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law, then
Christ died for nothing.
28. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the
law:
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a
curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:
29. Galatians desired to go under law:
Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the
law?

1 Timothy 1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand
neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm.
31. Striving over the law vain and
unprofitable:

fightings about law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year,...

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point,
he is become guilty of all.

Christians:
Acts 15:5 But there
rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, It is
needful to circumcise them, and to charge them to keep the law of Moses.
Acts 15:24
...we have heard that certain who went out from us have troubled you with
words, subverting your souls; to whom we gave no commandment
38. Grace plus law called another gospel:
Galatians 1:7 which
is not another gospel only there are some that trouble you, and would pervert
the gospel of Christ.
39. Law hardens mind, veils spiritual vision,
and not revealed to law keepers it is done away in Christ.
1Cor 3:4 but their
minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant
the same veil remains, it not being revealed to them that it is done away in
Christ.
40. Old Covenant not faultless, New Covenant
better:
Hebrews 8:7 For if
that first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought
for a second.
41. Old Covenant now Old, decayed, and
vanishing away:
Hebrews 8:13 In that he said, A new covenant he has made the first old. But
that which is becoming old and aged is near to vanishing away.
42. New Covenant is eternal:
Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great
shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, even our Lord
Jesus,
43. Jesus mediator of New Covenant, New
Covenant gives eternal life:
Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a
death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were
under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of
the eternal inheritance.
44. Old Covenant is of letter, new Covenant
is Spirit of life:
2nd Corinthians 3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant;
not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives
life.

sin.
47. Ordinances of the law abolished:
abolished: Ephesians 2:15 having abolished in the flesh the enmity, even the
law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of
the two one new man, so making peace;
48. Lawful ordinances were nailed to the
cross:
Colossians 2:14 having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was
against us, which was contrary to us: and he has taken it out that way, nailing
it to the cross;
49. Paul questions why Colossian Christians
subject to ordinances:
Colossians 2:20 If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as
though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances
50. Ordinances have appearance of
religiousness and of no value against fleshly nature:
Col. 2:23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed
religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against
the gratification of the flesh.
NLT: 23 These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious
self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in
conquering a person’s evil desires.
many many new testament scriptures should
be our lens to read the old.
Look here:
Hebrews
8:13 In that he said, A new covenant he has made the first old. But that
which is becoming old and waxes aged is near to vanishing away.
and again,
"for the law made nothing perfect <=== but the bringing in of a better
hope"
and again, "IF righteousness came by the law, ===> THEN CHRIST DIED IN
VAIN <==
Galatians
2:21 I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the
law, then Christ died for nothing.
Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if
there had been a law given which could make alive, truly righteousness would
have been of the law.
2 COR
3:7-11 But if the ministry of death,
written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of
Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his
countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the
Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory,
the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was
made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.
11 For if that which is passing away was
glorious, what remains is much more glorious
Alan asked
: The Law required to stone their children to death when they are rebellious??? Did GOD say that,
or is it a MAN written law?
Here is the law: Deut:21:
20 and they shall
say to the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious,
he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
21 And all the men of his city shall STONE HIM TO DEATH with stones: so
shall you put away the evil from the among you; and all Israel shall hear, and
fear.
..................
Here is the death to Sabbath
breakers law:
Exodus 35:2
Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day there shall be to you a
holy day, a sabbath of solemn rest to The LORD: whosoever doeth any work
therein shall be PUT TO DEATH.
EXAMPLE: Numbers 15:
a man stoned for picking up sticks.
34 And they
put him in ward, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.
35 And GOD said to Moses, The man shall surely be put to death: all the
congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him to
death with stones; as GOD commanded Moses.
................. ===> DO
ALL OR ELSE <=== > because it is sin not to obey "ALL" to do
the above.
The LAW OF "ALL":
Leviticus
19:37 Therefore shall ye observe *ALL* my statutes, and ALL my judgments,
and do them: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 20:22 You shall therefore *KEEP ALL*
my statutes, and *ALL* my judgments, and
do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, not vomit you out.
Leviticus
26:15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments,
so that ye will not do *ALL* my commandments,
but that ye break my covenant:
16 ===> I also will do this to you: I will appoint terror over you,
even consumption and fever, that shall consume the eyes, and make the soul to
pine away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 ===> And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be smitten before
your enemies: they that hate you shall rule over you; and ye shall flee
when none pursues you.
18 ===>>> And if ye will not yet for these things hearken unto me,
then I will chastise you seven times more
for your sins. <===
Galatians
4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
ACTS 15 -
But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is
necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.” 6
Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter. 7 And when
there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: “Men and brethren,
you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the
Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.
8 So God, who knows
the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to
us, 9 and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by
faith. 10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of
the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we
believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in
the same manner as they.”
Romans
8:2-3 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from
the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak
through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful
flesh, on account of sin
the law was a tutor to bring us to
Christ. But Christ has come and we are no longer under a tutor but Christ
Himself.
It is one
word as summed up in Gal 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty;
only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve
one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You
shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one
another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
TIM 1 :5-6
Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good
conscience, and from sincere faith, 6 from which some, having strayed, have
turned aside to idle talk, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law,
understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.
Here is
Paul's advice on how to deal with those wanting to strive and contend over
these matters of the OT Law.
Titus 3 - But avoid
foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for
they are unprofitable and useless.
10 Reject a divisive man after the first and
second admonition,
11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being
self-condemned. These strivings over the torah are indeed foolish contentions
that bear no fruit to God.
